Decided to re-touch some shots from IIMS 2012. Most of them are a noisy because I didn’t have a tripod at the time and that force me to use a higher ISO of 800 to 1600 (sometimes 3200) to get the picture bright enough. But I think it’s not so bad because I think the noises tend to create a uniqe texture to the image. What do you think?
I also tried not to tweak the angle of the image like I usually do even though some pictures has a crappy snapshot angle. I just learned how to shoot back then after all. Anyway enjoy the rest of the shots.
My favorite shot so far. Close the door, let the people walk away, less-shake than it will become the money shot.
Can’t wait for this year’s event. I wish there will be a drift event such as last year though. x
I’ve been wanting to share this amazing videos for a while. The JTCC Accord is one of my all-time favorite race car. That shifting on that 6 speed sequential transmission gave me a boner.

A few race-prepped exotics hiding behind the shed at Sentul Circuit waiting for its next outing in the season
First of all, pardon me for the lack of update because starting from last week I was busy following my friends prepping their car for D2 drag event that happened last weekend. Here is an update of what we were doing last weekend.
Why random shots? Simple, because I have no intention to cover it but I can’t stand go to an event without bringing my camera. Also I get there with some friends whom participate in the event. So why not snap a few picture and share it here?
We get there early in the morning to avoid a huge traffic that usually occupy Indonesian tollway on Sunday. Here is Cacha’s Nissan March and Mr. Alex’s Civic Ferio in the tollway heading to Sentul.
My favorite part of getting to Sentul early in the morning is you can get a scenery like this…. Notice the weather is perfect for shooting so I was pretty pumped.
Arriving there early….
…there were already some guys practicing drag launch in skidpad-turn-dragstrip that was being use as a paddock too.
The 19 second class was about to start so I headed to the finish line…
Cacha with her Nissan March managed to get 19.4 seconds (if I’m not mistaken) in QTT on Saturday and clocked a best time of 20.1 seconds on Sunday. It’s considerably fast for a stock 3 cylinder city car driven by a girl…. Most of the cars on the same class were only able to get a best time above 20.1 seconds.
My neighborhood friend Abi with his Mazda Vantrend clocked a best time of 19.7 seconds on Saturday and 20.0 seconds on Sunday. He definitely could go faster but he was nervous because it was his first time parcitipating in a national event.
Actually there was Nanda with his Toyota Yaris competed in 18 seconds class but I forgot to took a picture of him on action because I was heading to the TV screen but it was turned off. Meh… Nanda managed a 18.2 seconds on Heat 1 but he was going a little bit too fast on Heat 2 with 17.9 seconds which causing him to disqualified. Drag racing is not as easy as you think, a split second too fast than you’re out….
Moving to 16 seconds class there was Irwin with his Mitsubishi Galant V6 managed a perfect time of 16.009 (yes, I’m not kidding) seconds on Heat 2. He could have been going to the podium if he didn’t slipped his clutch on Heat 1 that lead him to clocked a 16.5 seconds. Maybe next time, mate.
Here is the “Rainbow” EG6 from AP Speed that we saw in Banten Autoshow coverage strolling in the pit area.
The mighty “Casper” EG6 from Engine+ being prepared for it’s run. If you don’t already see a video of it than you should see it. It has a H22 with a huge ass turbo producing 849 whp. It was being detuned for last weekend event so it produce around 500 whp because they said it was struggling for grip. The sound it produced is unbelieveable. It can be heard from the skidpad and it sounds like a thunderstorm. I might sounds a little bombastic but you should experience this car with your own eyes and ears. This car is on another level. Oh btw they manage to get a best time of 8 seconds that day.
EG6 from Wisesa resting in the pit before it’s run. Notice the neat carbon fiber panels on the front end and the Spoon front lip. A nice example that drag racing car shouldn’t always have to look all beat up. I wish a can drive it on the street and pissing everyone off haha.
Seeing the pro cars being prepared and tested…
…I decided to head to the starting grid…
…to get a few action shots…
…from the starting grid.

As the sun start scorching…
…the pro cars start rolling to starting grid.
A little bit action won’t hurt…
“The friendly ghost” being towed to the starting grid. Notice how serious these guys were.
Why most of the pro cars were Hondas you might ask? Well, even in the states when blown V8s is everywhere Hondas were still popular among the drag racing enthusiast. It’s cheap and easy to build, it’s reliable, it’s a relentless beast in high rpms… What’s not to love? Whether you race on a straight line or a twisty circuit, you might considered Honda as your weapon of choice. I wish I can have my own sporty Honda someday. Whether it’s a dedicated track car or just a daily driver, I would be very happy to own one. Someday….
H. Dadang’s infamous “The Tiger” Nissan GT-R caught on my camera while rolling to starting grid. If you’re an Indonesian petrolhead and have no idea what car is this than you must be living under a rock. From what I know the turbo is the same size of a helmet….
Grab a few group shots before heading home. Alex’s Auto Car x Cocengak x Understeer.

So that’s what we were doing last weekend. My body is all tired but it’s all worth it. Lot of lesson learned. Hopefully we will be back for the 2nd series on June.
Have a fun weekend everyone! x
Neat EG6 sitting pretty at Genesis. The clean engine bay really make it stand out. A perfect example that you don’t always need a fancier DOHC VTEC to make your Honda stand out.
